Family House University Place opened its doors to its first guests on Monday, June 29, 2009. Family House is now able to accommodate approximately 4,500 more guests every year with the establishment of the fourth facility and addition of 48 guest rooms. 2009 Family House Polotini

Thank you to everyone who joined us Friday, May 29, 2009 at Saks Fifth Avene for a night of shopping, drinking, eating, and support of Family House with event co-chairs Laura Penrod Kronk and Carrie Conboy! This event marked the official kick-off to the 2009 Family House Polo season.

Family House Needs Volunteers

Family House is looking for dedicated and compassionate volunteers who are interested in spending a few hours each month in our houses, helping to provide a 'home away from home' for our guests. For more information, please visit the Volunteer section of our website.

In 1983, Family House opened its doors to patients and their families, providing them with comfortable, affordable surroundings while they underwent specialized hospital treatment at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), the Western Pennsylvania Hospital, and other hospitals in the Pittsburgh area.

Family House, a non-profit corporation operated by a voluntary board of directors, provides a special "home away from home" for patients and/or families who must travel to Pittsburgh for treatment of serious or life-threatening illnesses. Thanks to the generosity and support of the Pittsburgh community, Family House is able to provide a comfortable haven to help our guests through stressful times.
